  1. God bless and keep you. My daughter just graduated HM and is headed to SDiego. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

  2. Ben Rast was not a Seaman, he was a Hospitalman. Once a rating is given, such as Hospitalman, the seaman is left behind. Corpsman give alot and sometimes all, as Ben Rast did, to the marines we serve with. It might seem a little thing-the distinction between a Seaman and a Hospitalman-but it is not. Ask the many marines to whom “Doc” patched up or saved.

  3. I didnt know your son but as a fellow Michigander I applaud his bravery in Service to our country and all Americans and pray that God has placed your son in his busom until he raises us all. Thanks to him and to you for his service and ultimate sacrifice, my thoughts and prayers go out to you.

Condolences, David Melchert – Rochester Hills, MI

  4. I ONLY KNEW OF HIM AND WHAT I KNEW WAS THAT HE WAS A GOOD CORPSMAN WHO CARED FOR ALL THOSE UNDER HIS CARE. AND HE GAVE ALL FOR HIS COUNTRY AND THE MEN HE CARED FOR.
