DOD Identifies Army Casualty
The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
Sgt. 1st Class Daniel T. Metcalfe, 29, of Liverpool, N.Y., died Sep. 29, in Sayyid Abad, Afghanistan, of injuries suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, Caserma Ederle in Vicenza, Italy.
