The C-5 Galaxy is the largest aircraft in the Air Force inventory. The Alamo Wing operates and maintains 16 of the giants at Lackland Air Force Base. In addition to flying missions in support of global requirements, the 433rd Airlift Wing is also home to the C-5 Formal Training unit and trains the future air crews for active duty, Air National Guard and the Air Force Reserve. This week the Army, Navy and Marine Corps announced a decrease in activated reservists while the Air Force and Coast Guard announced an increase. The net collective result is 128 fewer reservists activated than last week.

At any given time, services may activate some units and individuals while deactivating others, making it possible for these figures to either increase or decrease.  The total number currently on active duty from the Army National Guard and Army Reserve is 51,631; Navy Reserve, 4,635; Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve, 10,292; Marine Corps Reserve, 4,609, and the Coast Guard Reserve, 814.  This brings the total National Guard and Reserve personnel who have been activated to 71,981, including both units and individual augmentees.

A cumulative roster of all National Guard and Reserve personnel who are currently activated may be found on line at http://www.defense.gov/news/d20120410ngr.pdf .
